Welcome to the web site of the Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies, part of Birkbeck's School of Arts. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise, we maintained our status as one of the top five departments of Iberian and Latin American Studies in the country.
We offer an exciting and diverse programme of courses covering the language, history, culture, cinema and sociology of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking societies. We also offer MPhil/PhD research opportunities on a range of topics, supervised by our world-class academics.
